Teacher Mini-Grant Update: Monarch Garden

The butterfly garden has been blossoming thanks to the hard work and dedication of our students, who have taken pride in weeding the beds and planting milkweed, native pollinator plants, zinnias, and vegetables to create a thriving habitat for the endangered monarch butterfly and other pollinators. Through this hands-on experience, students are learning about the importance of native plants, the life cycle of butterflies, and how small actions can support environmental conservation. They have embraced the opportunity to get their hands dirty and take ownership of a real-world project, often expressing how much they enjoy watching the garden grow and seeing butterflies visit the space.

Katie Hess, First Grade Teacher would also like to thank their partners Rockland Roots, especially Allyson Coffin, for helping make this project a reality!
