Stage the Future: Funded, Upgraded, and Ready to Shine

The KAHS Auditorium lighting upgrade has many new features. The new lights will have multiple functionalities that include: intensity, color, movement, focus, and images. Another key upgrade is that all of the new fixtures have LED technology, and therefore, require less power while offering the same lighting output as the old fixtures. Lamps will not need to be replaced periodically and minimal maintenance will be required, which differs greatly from the old lighting system that required a great deal of time, work, effort, and money to maintain. Additionally, new power switches will be located within the sound booth. One switch will turn on the sound system, and the other will turn on the lighting system, which will eliminate the need for someone to operate the system from the 2nd  floor. This upgrade will reduce components’ wear and tear, which previously occurred due to the continual running of the system.  Also, a new remote system will be installed on stage to allow event managers to control basic light scenes without needing to know how to run the full lighting system. For example, when band rehearsals take place, a general white light will turn on that will allow the stage to be lit. If a dance company needs the system, they can change the color to blue or red and include “fade outs” via the touch of a few buttons. In many ways, the new lighting system offers a great deal to participants and audience members. Beyond the features already mentioned, new lights will be mounted on the side poles (these are called Tormentors), which reside on the left and right walls of the auditorium. These lights will accentuate stage activity and add another dimension to the lighting system.
