
On Friday, October 6th, Angela Lutz and Tracy Snyder Schaeffer were inducted into the Kutztown Area High School Athletic Hall of Fame. The 1950 State Championship Boys Basketball Team was also honored.
Angela Lutz
Angela Lutz, a 1989 graduate of Kutztown Area High School, was a two-sport stand-out in field hockey (1988 Division 3 All-Star team) and in softball (Berks County title in 1987, Division title in 1988, & Berks County and District III championships in 1989). While attending Millersville University, she earned NCAA Division III All-PA Regional Field Hockey Team in 1991 and College Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II All-America First Team in 1992. During her Millersville softball career, she was named to the National Coaches Association Division II All-America team, third team, the NCAA-II All Mid-Atlantic Region and All-PSAC Eastern Division, first team. As of 2005 she still held the Millersville records for 16 career triples, 12 home runs, and a .644 slugging percentage. She was inducted into the Millersville Athletic Hall of Fame for both field hockey and softball in 2005.
Tracy Snyder Schaeffer
Tracy Snyder Schaeffer, a 1978 graduate of Kutztown Area High school, was a multi- sport star. In field hockey, she was the leading scorer in 1976 and 1977, and a member of the All-County team in 1977. She received Honorable Mention in basketball in 1978. Tracy was a four-year varsity letter winner in track, and also helped to start the girls cross-country team. At Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Tracy was a 4-year varsity starter on the field hockey team and the leading scorer all four years. She was a two-time Budweiser player of the week, two-time Division II All-American, and represented the Middle East at the National Field Hockey Tournament in 1980 and 1981. Following college, Tracy coached field hockey at Kutztown High School and Owen J. Roberts. Tracy is presently a USTA tennis official for district, sectional, and national tournaments, and is also an ITA tennis official for Division I and III college matches.

1950 Boys’ Basketball Team
The KAHS Athletic Hall of Fame also honored the Boys’ 1950 Class B PIAA State Championship Basketball team. Finishing with a 30-2 record, the team won the Berks County, District III, Eastern Pennsylvania and PA State championships. Representing the team at the ceremony were Carl Wuchter and Dick Suter.
