Congratulations to the Class of 2023 Valedictorian and Salutatorian Recipients!
On May 25, 2023 during commencement, the recipients of two additional Education Foundation awards were announced.
Recipient of the John & Laila Silan Valedictorian Scholarship, Mr. Jake Justeson
Jake is involved with athletics, academics, clubs, and music at Kutztown as a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, Reading Musical Foundation Scholarship recipient, Kutztown Rotary Student of the Month, Cross Country County and District Qualifier, member of the Cross Country District Championship Team, Track and Field County and District Qualifier, and part of the school musical playing his trumpet in the pit orchestra. He is the captain of his Academic Challenge Team, Cross Country Team, and Track and Field Team. Jake is the President of the Band, Co-Drum Major of the Marching Band, and section leader for Concert and Jazz Bands. He is a High Honor Roll Student, Scholar Athlete, Berks Sports Hall of Fame Male Scholar Athlete, and Kutztown’s Top Male Scholar Athlete. In the fall, Jake will attend University of Pittsburgh David C. Frederick Honors College for Bioengineering.

Recipient of the John & Laila Silan Salutatorian Scholarship, Ms. Leah Zettlemoyer
Leah is involved with music, clubs, and academics at Kutztown as a member of the KASD Musicals, chorus, select choir, jazz choir, student council, and Leo Club. She is a member of the Junior and Senior County Chorus, District Chorus, Region Chorus, Kutztown Rotary Student of the Month, and High Honor Roll Student. Leah is the President of the Class of 2023, President of Kutztown’s Chapter of National Honor Society, President of Tri-M Music Honor Society, SMART Mentor, and played two leading roles in Kutztown’s Musicals (Shrek the Musical as Shrek and The Addams Family as Fester Addams). In the fall, Leah will attend Penn State Berks for Chemical Engineering.
