3rd Annual Alumni Homecoming Gathering

What an evening!

Picture-perfect weather was an appropriate backdrop for our latest Education Foundation Homecoming Event. The Ed Foundation tent was located between a field hockey game, the Braucher Basketball Court, the stadium, and the future Inspiration Garden.

The setting provided the ideal location for alumni of all ages to gather. In the background you could hear crowds cheering, basketballs bouncing, bands warming up, whistles blowing and athletes calling out to teammates. Inside the tent you could hear conversations about old nicknames, former teachers, about connecting faces from the past to the faces of the new generations, and about how much the school has changed but how much the spirit has not.

It was a wonderful evening for the dedication of the Braucher Basketball Court. The bright blue and white court is named in honor of Cougar basketball star, Dick Braucher, who was selected as a 1965 Parade All-American Basketball Team member and is recognized as one of the premier players in Berks County history.

Another highlight of the evening was the introduction of the Foundation's newest project, the Inspiration Garden. Students, community members, and Kutztown University art students have come together to contribute to the artwork under the direction of KAHS art teacher Ben Hoffman and project coordinator, Mike Miller. The mural will provide the backdrop for the setting, which will be landscaped with native vegetation, and will include information stands with pictures, stories, quotes and accomplishments.

The entire evening gave the Foundation an opportunity to say, "Welcome Home" and "Thank You" for the EXTREME generosity of "our little town" that has generated over $1M in donations to improve education in Kutztown.

Although it was a perfect day for Homecoming, there is never a bad day to say "THANK YOU" to our wonderful alumni and friends.

A big thank you to D.K. Photography for your time and talent with capturing photos of these eve
